Hello list;

My god i always thought USA was the cheapest...
But buying a regulator there is a pain in...... sorry.

But for the persons interested : i recently bought

--> 2 (TWO) Scubapro MK25-S600(one with a 7foot hose) for
600,- EUROS

but i heard they freeze and are not very good for cold and dirty european waters. So i am going to change them for two Apeks with long hose.

2(TWO!) Apeks ATX200 (one with 7foot long hose) for 540,- EUROS.

I am living in Holland by the way.

greetings, xerxes

p.s. Can someone make an descent comment on my question about the ATX200.

And is it possible to strip the second stage of a Apeks ATX200 as easy as a tx100 second stage?

Mares Abyss would be the "Best" choice. While its not the best regulator for technical, for recreational diving it is the best all around reg.

It breaths better than any of the typical recreational regs (Oceanic, Sherwood, Dacor, Genesis, USD)

Its got a lifetime warranty, parts are cheap, while it pails in comparison in Performance to the S600 the average recreational diver won't spend the $$ The Abyss is $300.00cdn less than the MK25/S600.

If you want the BEST performing regulator in the Industry you'll get the Scubapro MK25/S600.

The Abyss is the Best all around reg for the $$. The other option would be to buy the MK16/S550 from Scubapro which has the same first stage configuration as the Zeagle, lighter 2nd stage, breaths better than any reg's listed here, has a drysealed first stage, and is great for ice diving.

Good luck!

What about an MK16/S600? Do you think that's a better choice than the SP MK25/S600?

Is the MK16 Nitrox compatible?

Comparing prices at my LDS's -- the Abyss is no cheaper than the SP MK20/S600 -- both sell for over $650.00.

The 550 is a neat little reg. It's a simplified version of the 600. It omits the auto anti set and adjustment knob common to the 600. This means the breathing resistance of the 550 is set by the factory. Since this is a balanced reg and has low spring tension, I doubt that the lack of anti set will have any effect. It seems to be a good choice for rec diving. I suspect that most customers opt for the 600 over the 550, however.

The MK 16 is an elegantly designed diaphragm reg with many little parts, but not as many as a turret version. It is Nitrox compatible and should be very reliable.

By "listed here," are you including the MK25/S600? How would you compare the MK25/S600 with the MK16/S550?
