Fort Worth Police Officer Drowns During Training « CBS Dallas / Fort Worth
ARDMORE, OKLAHOMA (CBSDFW.COM) – Fort Worth police confirm one of their officers died in a scuba diving accident.
It happened on Lake Murray Friday afternoon.
CBS11 investigative producer Jack Douglas Jr. confirmed the police officer was training with firefighters when the officer went under and did not come back up.
The officer was 49-year-old Harlan Whitworth according to DPS.
“We ask that you keep his family and friends in your thoughts and prayers,” a spokesperson for the police department told CBS11.

Prayers for all. We tried to dive Lake Murray a few weeks ago and the visability was the worst I've ever seen. 2 feet...maybe...down to 20 feet. Deeper than that and it was zero. At 60 feet, the only way I could see my computer was turn on the back light and hold it against my mask. We thumbed the dive because I could not see my wife and daughter unless we were holding hands. I can't imagine having to search for a buddy that didn't come up.
