Can anyone recommend type of pole spear for the Tampa area?

I borrowed a 5ft pole spear with a single bard to hunt out by the orange tug this past weekend. Loved it and want to do more of it - so - I did not know if a 7ft would be better and what tips I should be using.

Any help would be appreciated.

I have a 7'. Used it when I first started out spear fishing. Practiced on pin fish in the flats then found out it's great for shallow water sheepshead around the rock piles.

Things to know. They only use one "band", always have 2 extra bands, another name for them is a hawaiian sling and if you can shoot a fish with one then a speargun is no problem.
