Hi y'all

I'm fairly new to the forum and I will receive my OW in 2 weeks. I was wondering what the diving at Point Lobos is like? I travel to Sunnyvale occasionally and visited Point Lobos once. I spent a Saturday walking around and enjoying the scenery. I noticed some folks diving and thought after I get my OW I would like to dive there during my next trip (sometime between Mach and June of '06). Do you need to make a reservation? Any info is appreciated.

Thanks

Yes, you need a reservation, at least on weekends. On weekdays
you can offten just show up. You can make reservations two
months ahead at http://pt-lobos.parks.state.ca.us/scuba/scuba.shtml
where there's also lots of good info about diving Lobos.

You MUST bring your C-card. No C-card, no dive.

The diving is VERY good, IF you don't hang around in front of the
launch ramp, where it's shallow, flat, sandy, bad vis, and boring.
Yes, there are occasionally some interesting things there, but
it's generally MUCH better out in the mouth of the cove.

Also, you must have a buddy. You cannot just show up (even with a reservation) and find a buddy there. You and your buddy must register together at the gate.

Thanks for the info. Closer to my travel dates next spring I'll check back for any recommendations for a local DM as a guide or maybe find someone that would like to hook up as a bubby. By then I should have my Advanced OW and Nitrox plus a couple dozens dives under my belt.

I'm guessing that you are a warm water diver.QUOTE]

How'd you guess? :14:
