what are your favourite glue-on pockets, and why?
I'm currently using Oxycheq G pockets and think they're pretty tough, the right size, and so on but need to pick up some new ones and frankly prefer not to buy Oxycheq.
so, I see some others out there: Halcyon, Highland by Xs-Scuba, and so on.
just looking to see what you're all using and what works. I'll glue these onto a wetsuit for caves mostly but other general dive use. thanks.

The large Halcyon pockets. The small pocket in the flap is handy for keys, Sensus Ultra, spare parts, etc. There's a nice compartment for your wet notes too.

I have a pair of the XS-Scuba pockets on my 3 mil, and they get the job done and the price is right. That said the pocket size, the flap-to-pocket distance etc. makes them fine for basic recreational WW diving. If you require more, I'd look elsewhere.

I've used XS pockets, old style smaller H pockets, new style smaller H, and the new great big hauss ones.

By far, without a doubt, the huge Halcyon pockets are my favorite. The wetnotes pocket is real nice, as is the flap. I wouldn't use the zipper pouch for anything too important, however. One thread can make anything in that pouch inaccessible.

Thanks for the replies. It isn't really intended to be a survey of which manufacturer so if possible, it would be great to hear about what you like about your choice of pocket. I'm going to order a few to put on different suits (wet, dry, different thickness wet, etc) so I want to choose right.
thanks a lot.

I saw the Halcyon pockets the other day and they look great. I saw the XS Scuba on a web site for like $35 and frankly, price is often a factor and XS Scuba, in my opinion, has made pretty good stuff.
I like the Oxycheq's that I have now for durability, velcro closure, size, they appropriately collapse when not in use, etc. I don't think they're as big as the Halcyons.

hey Henrik :)

Hi Steve :) how's Brazil treating you ...?

I had an Oxycheq pocket and had it ready to glue on my suit, but for some reason I now can't remember liked the XS Scuba pocket better - so I sold it.

XS Scuba pocket "ups":
- price
- seems reasonably well made
- neoprene backing will stretch *a bit* with the suit if the pockets are glued on with neoprene cement
- has a mesh "pocket divider" allowing you to stow wetnotes etc. in it's own "compartment"
- has grommets on the bottom for draining and on the sides for bungee.
- has a webbing tab with a plastic D-ring inside the pocket. D-ring can easily be cut/removed so bungee loop can be installed instead.

XS Scuba pocket "downs":
- when the pocket is fully expanded and you close the flap, the flap is too short to provide complete velcro attachment area. It'll close and stay closed, but only an inch or two of the flap velcro hit's the pocket velcro.

- again with the pocket full/fully expanded and the flap closed there is a 1" or so gap between the top of the pocket sides and the flap allowing stuff to "sneak out" of the pocket. Granted, everything is clipped off so I'm not loosing anything, but I'd prefer the pocket be fully "enclosed".

- the rounded corners on the backing are nicely edged with a band of nylon material, but due to the stitching these corners "roll in" which makes it a bit tricky to mark out as well as glue the pocket on. No biggie, but something I noticed.

thanks again Henrik! Brasíl is a blast. I'm still waiting on you and Sam and some other DNYers to come visit.

This is great insight to your XS Scuba pocket use and even more than I was hoping for - thanks a lot. The downs are especially interesting (or the down) as I suppose you have to wonder what happens to something that can't be clipped off. For example, sometimes I store a z-knife in my pocket. Tough to clip a z-knife and easy for something small like that to find a hole and drift out.

I hope you're well,
Steve

Not 100% as if it's glued but I think it isWe use the Bare Lg. Zippered pockets and they work great. Both pockets came with a D-ring inside attached. and the large zipper is very easy to open and shut with Dry gloves/Wet gloves. 5-7mm. They are large enought to put my whole DataMask in one. Easily enough room. They also have gromets holes in the bottom and sides of the pockets. Seem very durable have had no issues as of yet.
