Hi all,

Well I'm now the proud owner of a shiny new Transpac. I have a couple of questions, both pocket related.

I bought the smaller QR pockets, and I've threaded them vertically onto the waist strap as per the video, so far so good. They do seem to take an awful lot of force to dump though. It's a two handed job, firstly to pull free of the clips, and then the Velcro. Am I missing something? I'm not sure I could manage to ditch them to hand up on a rib let alone in an emergency. I think it may be easier if they were mounted horizontally, but they do take up a lot of space that way around. I should say that I haven't got any if this wet yet, but I want to be sure I've made the right choice before I do and can't return the pockets.

My second question is around the 'bag' pocket in the back pad. I can see where it is, but I can't see how you could tuck an SMB in there. Surely between the tank and your back would be uncomfortable? It doesn't look right clipped to the d-ring and then tucked up in side.

So many questions!!

Hi Krazyklaws,
NEW TOYS!!! Its always exciting.

The QR pockets do require some effort to dump, but that is because we don't want you to have any issues losing the weight during a dive. The velcro will be a somewhat easier to break through when it is wet.

On the pocket in the back pad, an SMB could be uncomfortable if it is rolled up and then stuffed in the pocket. If you use that pocket it is better to fold the SMB flat and stuff it in the pocket. From our experience the sandwich should keep the SMB in place but you may want to clip it off just in case. The sleeve is not an ideal place for a SMB but it was a feature that we were asked to include.

Let me know if you have more questions,
Jared

Hi Jared,

Thanks for the reply, I can't wait to try it out!! Just one more question. I've mounted the pocket vertically, between the shoulder strap connector and the webbing on the hip padding. It seems to shift about a lot, is there a way to stop it without adding a weight retainer or something? I've looked at mounting them sideways, but there doesn't seem to be enough room unless I move the front d-rings further forwards. I'd rather leave it vertical, but I'm not happy with the amount of movement. Any suggestions?

Thanks

Hi Karen,
When mounting the pockets vertical there will be some play, but should not be too much. Your sideplates (shoulder strap connector) should only be about 2 in (~5 cm) from the hip webbing. So there will be very little space for the pockets to slide. You can also move the side D-ring to the other side of the hip d-ring to help prevent it from moving.
