PNWUPS FEBRUARY NEWSLETTER & MEETING AGENDA
SUNDAY, APRIL 11, 2010: 2:00 PM- 5:00 PM

Please note the change in meeting location! We have had a number of scheduling conflicts, and are going to try Denny's out. Same exit off I-5, only west side of the freeway.
This e-mail will let you know what is on tap for the April meeting, provide additional information about up-coming trips, and let you know about some up-coming photo contests. It is being sent out earlier than usual because of the up-coming Monterey trip.
April Meeting
The April meeting will center on preparing photos for contests, and especially the up-coming PNW Dive and Travel Expo.
We will discuss sizing photos and how to meet other contest rules, along with how to "clean-up" photos by correcting white balance, eliminating backscatter, etc. Even if you do not plan on entering contests, this will be a good session to learn about the fundamentals of work flow and underwater photo editing.
We will also see who is interested in a trip north to British Columbia, possibly the Sunshine Coast area.
If you have a lap top, please bring it so we can work with people editing their photos on their own equipment. If you do not have a lap top, bring in pictures on a thumb drive or CD.
Based on feedback from the March get together, web designer Jacob is working on setting up an area on the PNWUPS site where members can post and share photos. He has shown a prototype, and it looks very nice. Should be fun!
Dives & Travel
There are four dive/trip opportunities currently being planned:
April 5-9: Monterey/Pt Lobos
April/May: Possible Canada Outing
June 5-12: Bahamas Dolphin/Shark Photos Shoot
January 15-21: Bahamas Caribbean, Tiger, Lemon, Hammerhead
The Monterey/Pt Lobos trip is set up, and we should hopefully return with good shots of the kelp forests and critters who inhabit them.
Several folks have indicated they are interested in a Canada trip (Sunshine Coast?) in late April or early May. We will discuss dates and logistics at the April meeting.
In January, 2011, Gregory Sweeney is taking ten photographers out for a week of shark photography in the Bahamas. There is presently one open slot. If you want to add a variety of shark images to your portfolio, this would be the trip. Contact Gregory at the link above if this sounds appealing.
