Hi,

Am starting to plan a trip to PNG for September - it will be land based, not liveaboard

(1) What are conditions like in September?

(2) I love the big stuff... so from what I've been reading on here Kavieng seems to be the place for me?

(3) Would it by worth a couple of days in PM on the way? or should i just stick with Kavieng?

Any help always appreciated

Many Thanks

Absolutely a couple of days on the way in or out c either John Miller at the Dive Centre based in the airways hotel POM or go and stay at loloata resort where Dik Knight and his team will look after you. POM is severely under rated and has some great sites SUsies Bommie/End Bommie/Baldwins Bommie/Pai II/Pacific Gas and the list goes on.

The Goroka (Eastern Highlands sing sing is Sep 13-14 if you can manage it, it should not be missed.

I would recommend Diving Australia, Diving Holiday Australia, Liveaboard Dive Cruises Cairns travel to help put your trip together.

Cultural shows
Papua New Guinea Tourism Promotion Authority - Papua New Guinea Tourism Promotion Authority - Cultural Events

wow the Gorka show does look absolutely amazing... however it is going to bang in the middle of my trip :( 5/9 - 16/9 and i would just loose too many diving days in between :( its a real shame... i'm coming from the UK and flights are so scarce and days off from work so few...
