Hi, I have spent about 3 months in total diving around kaveing in the last few years. All of the time I have been based at Lissenung island. If you want to dive it is the best place to stay. It is already half way to the majority of the dive sites you will be diving at that time of year. In Dece,ber due to the winds you will be doing the vast majority of your diving in the Bismark Sea and not the Pacific. This means you will be diving places like, Albatross channel, planet channel, Steffen strait etc. All of these are close to Lissunung.

if you stay on the isalnd you can also dive the house reef free of charge and that alone is worth staying there for with things like Cuckatoo wasp fish, demon stingers, 6 types of clown fish etc all on the 20 metre swim to the reef from the beach in 2 metres of water its not too shabby!!

The people who run Lissenung really know the area and its people. They have been diving there longer than anyone else and can find you just about anything you want to see. I know the other operators and I would not recommend them as highly. Another place to stay is Nusa island which is also good but to dive still go with Lissenung diving.
