Looking to get to some local holes in my area, inland, river and MAYBE coastal on fine weather days, I bought a 12 ft catamaran (Aqua Cat, for the curious, which I also hear referred to as floating lawn furniture). After some misadventure through the State of Massachussetts, the boat is home, under some minor repairs, and I am hopeful to take her out in the next month to play and learn. I don't intend to carry more than maybe one additional diver, plus gear for one dive - I doubt she'll handle more than that.
I still have a lot of things to sort out - what to stow where. The forward hatches are just big enough for an anchor and line on port, and radio, throw bag and a couple other goodies starboard. BC & fins, I MAY lash to the frame, between the tramp and the hulls, just to keep the deck clear. There is also the mast A-frame that may provide some lashing space; have to figure that one out.
I don't need speed (which is probably a good thing), and I don't generally need to go a long way. I don't need to break through heavy surf. I just needed an inexpensive, stable platform that I can get to a few dive spots for some play time.
