At the last GTBUP Council meeting, a unanimous motion was passed to donate $100 to the SLPC Fund: So, the Grand Traverse Bay Underwater Preserve Council challenges all Michigan Underwater Preserves to match or exceed their donation of $100 to the SLPC fund c/o Heather Bloom.
Dear Diving Friends:
As some of you are aware, Our friend Heather Bloom has recently been diagnosed with Lymphoma cancer. It is presently in her bone marrow, glands and spleen. She has undergone her first session of chemotherapy and as of this writing she just returned home from a long week in the hospital due to a fever caused by her body's response to her low white cell count. She is approaching this with the same grace that she shows throughout her life; the tears are few and the smiles are infectious.
For those of you that wish to offer your positive thoughts and prayers, Heather believes prayer will make THE difference in her recovery... I know that she will feel blessed by your actions.
I have some insight into their financial situation, as well as their medical insurance coverage, and I know they need assistance. Some of you have already sent them checks to help defray their medical expenses, for which Heather and Dan are very grateful. For those that may wish to offer financial assistance, I have set up an avenue for your gifts that may offer tax benefits for you as well as help for the Blooms.
I have set up a designated fund at my church that will allow donors to designate their giving to Heather's needs. Simply send a note with your check to "SLPC", and 100% of your gift to the church will pass through to assist the Blooms' as they face this new challenge in their life.
The church address is as follows:
The Spring Lake Presbyterian Church
760 East Savidge Street
Spring Lake, MI 49456
We have done this on other occasions to address the needs of others in and around the church and it has proven to be a wonderful vehicle for giving. If you have any questions please don't hesitate to call me at the church at (616) 842-5060.

I join you in your thoughts and prayers for Heather's complete recovery.
