The new Congress has hit the ground running, with the introduction of the Shark Conservation Act (HR 81). This bill would require that sharks caught in all U.S. waters be landed whole with their fins still attached. We're asking you to contact your Representative and ask him or her to help ensure fast passage of this important piece of legislation.

If you're thinking this looks familiar, you're right. This bill was introduced and passed by the House of Representatives last year. However, it wasn't voted on in the Senate and so wasn't made into law. With a new Congress, we get to start all over with re-introduction.

If you sent a message last time, thanks! And please send another one so we can get this bill all the way through to being a law and help protect sharks!

Fax sent to Rep David Dreier in support.

Do you have the text of the bill? Doing a search on the House website, I'm not able to locate the bill.

Letter sent to Rep. Brady in Texas.

Hopefully we will all get word when it is re-introduced in the Senate. I think this is the legislation the sharks are looking for! If it passes both houses other countries will follow suit.
