The final countdown - it's not too late!

Thanks to you we have reached over 16,500 signatures to protect Chagos. But we still need your help in order to make a Chagos no-take Marine Protected Area a reality.

We’re nearly there! There are only four days before the British Foreign and Commonwealth Office closes the Chagos consultation period (12th February).

Help us reach our goal of 20,000 signatures - ask friends and family to lend their support and sign the petition.

Did you know?

50% of the world’s coral reefs could be gone by 2050
50 tonnes of open-ocean shark species are caught accidentally every year by legal fisheries in Chagos waters
At least 60 species listed in the International Union for Conservation of Nature’s Red List of Endangered Species are found in the Chagos Islands.
The Chagos is an important nesting ground for 300-700 hawksbill turtles and 400-800 green turtles, both endangered species
If created, the Chagos Protected area would be twice the size of the UK and would double the current global marine protection
