Wondering if Plaza Resort in Bonaire would be a good destination for my wife and I. I'm happy diving anywhere, still at the stage where swimming underwater and gazing around makes me happy. My wife snorkels but doesn't dive. Her idea of an excellent vacation is an inclusive resort with beach, pool, good restaurants and decent bars.

I've read a fair bit on this site about Bonaire and the Plaza, but haven't seen this question addressed. If it's there and my search skills are poor, I'd appreciate a link to existing discussion - otherwise I'd appreciate opinions.

Thanks.

All-inclusive is not really a Bonaire thing. It is possible at the Plaza, and can be purchased as an add-on at Buddy Dive and at Divi Flamingo. Maybe at Delphins. But since most of the resorts have one or more on-site (and maybe nearby) restaurants, it is not a big deal. Beaches (of the wide, sandy kind) are not really a Bonaire thing, either. Harbor Village has a nice beach, but restaurant choices are limited. One of the good things about Bonaire is the variety of good restaurants and food-choice types available. It wol be shame to be stuck in one place.

The Plaza will hit most of your wife's needs. They currently only have the one restaurant which is buffet. But it is a very good and varied buffet. They are supposed to be rebuilding the old restaurant into a more upscale option. The beach bar is relatively small and adequate. The pool is beautiful and they do have a sandy beach with plenty of lounge chairs. Access to the water for snorkeling or diving is not sandy. Agree though that you would be missing out to not try some of the other excellent restaurants on the island! Oh and you didn't ask, but the onsite dive op - Toucan - is excellent as well.

second what @mbs said. We were there June 2024 with the ScubaBoard invasion and we had a good time. The bar in the lunch area is better than the one in the pool.
