hello,
In august I'm going to Playa del carmen on holiday. I like snorkling. I have snorkeld in Corfu and Mallorca. This was fantastic. But this year I also want to snorkel. Is this possible in playa del carmen? do you have to go into a boot or can you go directly from the beach into the water and see nice fish?

Check out Aukmal. It is about 20 minutes south of Playa by taxi. It is a gret place to snorkel. Akumal Dive Shop, Riviera Maya, Akumal, Caribbean Scuba Diving, Mexico

Yes ! its possible - but you do have to go out on a boat ! I would try an open water level dive course if i were you! You will love it there! Try go up to cozueml in front of playa . the diving and snorkeling is amazing there!

Plan early excursions, because later in the afternoon the wind tends to pick up and makes the water a bit choppy.

The reefs are a bit too far out to snorkel from the shore along most of the coast. The best exception to that rule is Akumal Bay. Call it 40 minutes south of PDC. You are likely to see turtles and if you are lucky, a bait ball of silversides with the attending barracudas.

I have no experience with diving. is it possible to dive in the see in 1 or 2 days? does your age matters? i'm 15 years old is that a problem?

Yes it is possible. You can take a Discover Scuba course or some call it a Resort Course. Geofish offers such a opportunity. Geofish Dive Courses and Programs in Playa del Carmen - Scuba Diving, Snorkeling, PADI Dive Instruction and Kiteboarding

I am assuming that 15 is below the age of consent in Holland, so you will need a parent or guardian to sign for you.

If I were doing it, I would talk with some shops at home before you go on vacation. Tell them what you want to do in Mexico and see if they will do the pool work. Beats spending vacation time.
