Playa del Carmen diving

We are going in June and staying at the Grand Coco Beach resort.
Would we be able to do some shore dives or do we need to take a dive
charter? Is the water rough on this side?

Go see Turtle Reef

Also could go over to Cozumel

Also you could do some cavern diving

Stay away from Scuba Playa. They have to be one of the worse dive operators in Playa. I agree with Jordan. Don't waste your time at Playa unless you want to dive any cenotes. Go to Cozumel.

I dove with Dressler while staying at the Playa Iberostar Quetzal. Good dives, and safe.

I dove Playa and its nice. did tons of dives right off of the beach when I was at The Royal Hideaway. But last tiem we went we had to go to Coz because we had ruff seas from storms that keep blowing in. but Coz is very nice and wonderfull diving. Santa rosa wall is a nice deep dive to 100ft+

Make sure you stay away form ScubaWorld. tomany divers on one boat. There are some nice cavern diving in Playa. Choc-Mool is a nice cavern with big openings.

Thanks for your replies.
I guess I should add that we have been to Coz and LOVED the diving there,
but on this trip we plan on staying in Playa del Carmen and not going over to
Coz. We have a limited budget this time around so shore diving would be best for us if it would be worth it.? Like stated before we are staying in the Coco Beach area.
Where is Turtle Reef Located?
