Hello

We have recently taken up diving and I have been reading this board for the last few months and have learned so much.

We are heading to Playa del Carmen next week, and are going to be completing our Open water dives there. I have been researching dive shops in the area, and am quite overwhelmed in how many there are, and which one is the right one for us. We are staying in Playacar at the Riu and wondering what the dive shops at the hotels are like? Also we are willing to go into town to the dive shops too.

We also have a junior scuba diver with us, so really are just newbies (totally hooked) looking for intro dives to start getting some experience.

Any suggestions are appreciated.

Oh and we will be renting equipment, and was wondering if dive shops rent wetsuits out too?

thanks

Drop a note to Alvaro at AlwaysDiving.com (chila9@prodigy.net.mx or there is a contacts link on his site). He did OW and AOW for Sue and I and is a fabulous intstructor. His shop does rent wetsuits as well as all the other gear you might need. Depending on the time of year, you may or may not need a wetsuit. I've dove that area in May a couple times and a dive skin (or shorts and a t-shirt) is all I need.
