My son (15) and I are beginner, recently certified divers. We'll be in Playa for a week in December. Any thoughts, advice or recommendations would be appreciated on picking the right dive operators. We're in both very fit and comfortable (as comfortable as newbie divers can be anyhow) in the water.
We'll be renting most equipment.
Thanks much,
Ken
btw: this is a great BBS, very helpful!.

I stayed at the Allegro in Playa del Carmen last February and dove with their dive shop, Barracuda Dive. They were really great, I found them helpful and very good with new divers. They kept the groups small usually 4-6 divers. I can't recommend anyothers in Playa del Carmen. But, the ferry crosses to Cozumel from Playa and I also have used the Paradise operators there. We were a charter group all on one boat from our LDS, but I also thought they did a great job as well.

Two long time PDC dive ops with good reputations. I've been out with both. Both right on pedestrian walkway.
