I am not only a big guy, but I am 58 years old disabled as well.

After a horseback riding accident in 2005 I ended up with permanent nerve damage that left me in a wheelchair. I was not expected to ever walk again. Well, it took five years but eventually I left the wheelchair behind and I have not used it for the past three years. I got my OW cert about a year before leaving the wheelchair behind forever (well hopefully forever). I still use a cane most of the time and my left leg does not function as it should at all.

I have dove Kauai, the caribbean, Fiji and Cozumel and have been able to get in and out of the boats at all of those destinations. While in Coz I dove off from at least 6 different boats and had not problem getting in and out of any of them. As long as they have some kind of ladder I can get in the boat. The toughest was diving from pangas in Fiji as the other divers had to be sure to get to the opposite side of the boat to counterbalance my climbing aboard.

I am even able to board from shore, but if I ever run into a problem doing so it would be pretty simple to have the boat go out far enough that they can put their ladder over the side and then I could wade out to them and then climb up the ladder.

You have heard the saying that where there is a will there is a way? Well if there is a dollar to be made the dive op will find a way to get you in and out of the boat

Thanks for sharing that. I'm sure i'll find someone who will accommodate me. The last several years, I've been diving several times in Belize, I guess I've been spoiled with the great dive boats and service.
