I am hopeing to get a dive trip planned for Feb/March 2007 and need some suggestions on good locations for that time of year. I am not familliar with all the good hot spots lol. I will be on a limited budget, but dont have it all planned out yet. Going to check different locations and compare prices and go from there. I will be traveling alone so need to find a shop or hotel that has groups going out. Thanks for any suggestions!

I am looking at between $1000 and $1500 for my budget. I am hopeing to get some wreck diving and night diving in also. Any location that is warm lol. Thinking about the Carribean, Central America, South America areas. But other suggestions will be looked into also. Just looking for some good places with lots to see. Hope tht helps some lol:coffee:

Thank you Rotanman. Yes it is a tight budget but it is not set in stone either. Just a starting point. I will look into the links you provided. Thank you!

I have one in April to Bonaire..airfare-hotel-2 boat dive per day-unlimited beach dives- -rental vehicle-breakfast..$1600. out of JFK..can arrange for flight from where you are instead, would have to check into airfare difference.May be more or less than ours in NY..

Welcome to the board. Bonaire would be my choice as well. The Keys are nice but a little colder that time of year and the possibility of getting blown out exists. Bonaire is costly to get to but diving is cheap and reasonable rooms can be had if you know where to look. Most of the time you can find a solo buddy or join another group once your there. I have had pretty good luck just asking if someone needs a buddy on Bonaire Talk. For inexpensive places to stay, try Wannadivehuts and Golden Reef Inn. They are not on the water but nothing is far from the water on Bonaire.

Cozumel is one of the few places where you might be able to put together a vacation in that price range. Look for package deals, often with charter flights. There are lots of good hotel options on Cozumel. I have been able to get some very good packages at Fiesta Americana through Apple Vacations. Air, hotel, and the all-inclusive option at the hotel for around $1,000-$1,300. Add on diving for a few hundred dollars and it's still in your budget. The AI plan includes drinks. You can book it with or without the AI, but the AI is usually so cheap it doesn't make sense not to take it, even if you go into town to eat dinner several times. The AI is worth it for breakfast, beer and chips, and a few lunches. There isn't much wreck diving there - one Mexican navy vessel that was sunk intentionally.
