Sounds like they need to go shoot another series this time, specifically for IMAX. :D

BIGG_BUDD:
Wow. Did I really deserve that?

I thought this is one of the best series I'd ever seen with never before captured footage in most if not every episode. People are certainly entitled to an opinion, but I find very little to criticize and the amount of time and effort that was put into filming the series is evident.

I enjoyed this immensely and was surprised that people would be critical when the series was so well done.

I too am disappointed in this series. While the footage is absolutely superb... narration is abominal and VERY superficial. Even though it is a BBC documentary, I think it is the worst natural history documentary I have seen from the BBC. Maybe I am spoiled and compare it with the 'Life' documentaries of the 80's and 90's that Sir.Attenborough did. Those were far better in terms of depth and understanding.

This 'Planet Earth' is nothing but pretty pictures, I would hardly call it a natural history documentary

'The snow leopard is one of the most elusive creatures on earth. Here in the high mountains of Afghanistan, we were lucky enough to film this animal. IT took the camera man two weeks to capture the 15 seconds of rare footage'.......yeah great. I knew that... now tell me something new. I stopped recording it because I just got disappointed ..... sad but true.

Maybe the UK version is different, I am going to see....

I don't think you learn a whole lot from watching the cave episode -- maybe a little -- but the photography is incredible and I thoroughly enjoyed the whole thing. The New Mexico cave they shot at the end is unbelievable. I'd give my eyeteeth to see it.

BTW, even from my limited experience in the cenotes, they LOOK like that when you're there.

I still haven't heard any of the "our cameraman had to endure xyz" to get this shot yet...perhaps the UK versions don't have that?
David Attenborough does a great job of narrating. His voice kinda reminds me of the guy who plays Gandalf from the Harry Potter movies...

I really wasn't too aware of the "bragging" so to speak, in the Planet Earth series, but I haven't seen all of them yet. What I liked about Blue Planet (at least the DVD version from BBC with David Attenborough) is that they just showed the footage during the program, and then at the end, with the extras, they tell you how they got the footage. I absolutely love that part.

People don't realize how much effort goes into getting those shots. I know would be totally creeped out going into a cave with mounds of bat dung and cockroaches crawling all over and up my pants. I think the camera people deserve a lot of credit.

I'm still waiting for Amazon to ship my Blu-Ray copy... I pre-ordered, but I guess the sold out pretty quick. :(
