Hey, we just realized we are going to have more people than my tent can handle out diving this weekend so we are looking for a place to stay... the cabins are full at Vortex.

Do you guys have any recommendations?

Buy an extra tent :D

I stayed in one of the pinewood lodge rooms at vortex which wasn't too bad but I assume they are full. There is the motel right off the interstate but I have herd mixed reviews about it.

+1 for tent option. For the cost of a room you can easy score a tent.

The motor lodge is great. Its not a Holiday Inn Express but its been refurbished and very clean, not to mention very close to the dive sites.

I've stayed in one of the Pinewood lodge rooms..... and it was PRETTY BAD.

but this has been more than 2 years ago and before Shane took over management and I've heard things have improved some.

Still I agree with "buy an extra tent"

I also believe that the Comfort Inn one exit down has a "Vortex Rate" if you ask for it. It was something like $50 to $60 per night. (this posted by Shane a year or so ago in another thread).

The Best Western has a real breakfast, restraunt style(not continental garbage), on the Defuniak exit.
