So I'm going to be looking for a job rather soon, and I'm wondering what the best places are in the US for diving? I'm looking for a place with good diving opportunities plus nice roads (ie, twisty/curvy country roads, mountains are the best) for motorcycling, with a major medical center (for my job), any ideas?

Seattle and surrounding communities. But you gotta like cold water.:D

Maybe Monterey or San Diego?

norther California is the place for you we got every thing here and some of the best diving in the world.

Yeah, me too. I'd like to find a place to live along the coast in south Florida or the Keys where the daylight and all-year-round average temperature is about the same as central Ohio, where there are some green hills and at least 60 inches of rain each year, with hardwood forests and decent soil for a garden. All that and no mosquitos.

Hawaii

..we have some curvy roads...JB rides his through Waimanalo, Makapu'u to work

Specialists get paid pretty well here,

but the medical care here is sorta substandard

In the US (medical center):

North Carolina (Duke)
North Florida (U. Florida)
Central Texas (Seton)
San Diego, Ca.
Monterey, Ca.
Maui

I myself am looking at moving once my contract with the Trauma Center I work for ends next year. At this point, I dive both the fresh water springs and oceans in Florida. It's the best of both worlds! If the ocean is too rough...I know there is a spring and hopefully, caverns to explore! So I am looking to move to possibly the middle of Florida, a halfway point between both!

Good luck!
HAPPY DIVING!

I would love to live in Hawaii again....I might still take a gander at that too! MAHALO!

Trauma...

Jackson Memorial is pretty hopping isn't it? (Miami)

I'd say UCSD or Sharp in San Diego,
Houston a VERY big medical center---its an entire city within a city

You know, trauma transport can be pretty nice through-out the Caribbean for some of the private air ambulances...

if you don't mind sketchy pilots...I like best when they are hidden up front and you can pretend they are smart and clean cut.

I'm actually applying for my residency (MD), so I'm thinking probably not FL since I haven't heard many good things about training programs in FL so far (otherwise I'd go because I hear the diving is great). Thanks for the suggestions folks!
