Not to be funny but coming from NJ - Blue Heron Bridge is outstanding for shore dives. Why not do a few there? Every time I have been there I have seen an octopus. I have seen sea turtles, sea horses and lots of life on the snorkel trail and under the bridge.

I would dive a few more there especially if it is close to your home... :)

Then branch out and go a little deeper.

I do love BHB and planning on doing several there this summer but would need a buddy to dive with. I don't have any friends that are certified so was hoping to join a trip with another dive shop or scuba club to BHB or any other ocean dive less than 30-35 feet to be paired up with a buddy.

BHB can be unpredictable on vis. When it's got good vis it's great, when it has poor vis it sucks. LBTS is a lot more predictable, plus it has a beach can so you can get a look at the surf before heading out. Both a good sites, but I personally like LBTS better.

I defintely would love to try LBTS. Anyone know of any dive shops or groups that go out to LBTS often?

Of course it's way far from you, but there are quite a few places on the panhandle--bays, inlets (tide dependent), as well as a couple in Alabama.

Check out Gold Coast Scuba. They have a dive club, and they are located like 2 miles from the waves. I will warn you- the guy who runs the shop is a little... How do I put it... Odd. Not a bad guy or anything, but you'll see what I mean if you go lol. There's another shop about a block from the water, but I was not impressed with their service, and they rented me a spear gun that fired randomly without touching the trigger which backs up the poor customer service. They are also a lot more expensive for fills etc than Gold Coast.

As others said the Keys reefs are shallow along with most of the reefs in Miami. I am not sure if there are any Miami reef dives below 30. Most are about 25' depending on the tide.
