I am looking for the websites where people go to buy good DIR gear, hardware and so forth. Any help for sites you guys use would be more than helpful.

Where are you in SoCal? If anywhere near LA, I'd just head over to Hollywood Divers (where one of the local GUE instructors works). Much easier to go over the gear in person than online if you aren't sure what you're looking at.

Deep Sea Supply makes great gear, from BP/W through accessories. Available anywhere there's a web connection. :-)

Well, you have a good supplier within driving distance of you, and that's Deep Sea Supply. Tobin's wings and plates are DIR-compliant, which is no surprise, since Tobin has some DIR training himself.

Otherwise, there are many suppliers who sell long hoses, brass and glass SPGs, and stiff paddle fins. I'm really enjoying doing business with Dive Right In Scuba -- Mike's been more than great to deal with, and his prices are extremely competitive. If you are interested in anything Dive Rite, Cave Adventurers is another good vendor, and Edd's prices are generally hard to beat.
