I love to swim with fishes but I am a bit scared of the depths. This is why I am looking for places like Bonaire where one can choose to dive in shallow waters. I love also Bonaire because some resorts offer the opportunity to shoredive directly from their diveshop at any time of the day, freeing me to wait for a boat, an instructor or a group that will normally prefer to make their dive in deeper waters than I would (also freeing me to use a vehicle or carry my own equipement). I have been in Bonaire many times but I would like to try some other places for a change. Does somebody know, anywhere in the world, places with these same characteristics (shallow waters, diveshop with free shorediving...)? Thanks in advance for your help!

Curacao is extremely similar to Bonaire as it's on the same reef. Almost all the dives we did there were 40-60' or less. Like Bonaire the reef starts shallow at all the diveresorts and most of the shoredive sites. At a lot of them on the west side you go in off a sandy beach or the resort divedock. Typically I'd say the reef starts a little further out on Curacao than Bonaire though.

There's a lot more to do topside on Curacao though you'll likely want a rental car to get around, it's a lot more spread out than Bonaire.

or just do a liveaboard! Even better than shore diving as you don't have to haul any gear.:D Check out Nekton Diving Cruises - Comfort, Stability, Worldclass Diving for the NW Bahamas itinerary, lots of shallow dives and 4-5 dives per day, non-stop food and fun.
