The Pismo Clam (tivela slultiorum) had a range from around Half Moon Bay in Northern California to around Magdalena Bay in Baja California.
They have disappeared from the Pismo Beach area (Pismo Beach was named in their honor; Pismo translated from Chumash is Tar.)
They have disapeared from LA County around the Zuma area.
They have disappered from Orange county; Huntington Beach Pier, Newport Pier, 13 street, Balboa Pier, the Wedge and the sandy beaches of north and south Laguna.
Any remaining in San Diego?
Only place I have seen them in the past ten years has been along selected sandy beaches in Baja, and every year they are becoming increasingly rare, what are found are very small= aka undersize per F&G size requirements
