Pin Style Spring Straps

O.K. so here is what might be a silly question. The straps came today. How do I get the pins out of the original buckle on my scubapro jet fins? Also, when I put the new springs straps on, should I pinch the pins together once I'm done?

My favorite solution: Channel-lock pliers.

Put the pliers on their smallest setting, put the jaws inside the buckle, and wrench (sorry) the old buckle open. (Basically, you're using the pliers "backwards" to open instead of close.) The pins will pop rather easily. (Chunk the old buckle hardware.)

Next, open the channel-lock pliers up enough to easily fit around the new pins and just squeeze them closed. (Yes, it's that easy.)
