I fly International Cargo for a US ACMI (charter) carrier . Normal schedule is 2 weeks on, 2 weeks off. I finally reached a place in my airline career where I have time and money to focus on personal hobbies (after family time of course). I'm 35 and I have been diving most of my life, growing up on the east coast in Florida. 10 years ago I wanted to pursue Technical diving but was wise enough to know I didn't have the money or the time to do it safely and correctly. At that time I was still working my way up the airline ranks and scratching by to build a family life with young kids and new wife. Patience has paid off and now I can begin to pursue Technical diving safely and properly. I think because I get time off in such big blocks it really helps because I get in family time and diving/training time. Then when I'm out on the road I get a lot of hotel appreciation time where I can do reading/research/etc. For me time to fly is never an issue, I don't fly outside work (sometimes fly my dad's small airplane for fun), and my main dive site is 1 mile from my house.
