Hello all,
Let me describe myself first. I have always been a point and shooter. The simplest for me was the best. Something nice? you look in your viser, press the button and that's it. I bought a cam one day that I could use manual, semi-manual and automatic. I did use it semi-manual but when it broke, I bought a kodak advantix with aps (you dont get simpler than that). (dont throw rocks please) I came to digital for work purposes (kodak Millenium 1.3 M) and it did the job for the time. After seing a friend use it underwater, I decided to buy a Canon PS A-75 and I bought the casing at the same time.
Even then, photography for me was only a way to take souvenirs (kids, travels, etc.) or show people what we see down there. Then I came to Scubaboard. I saw the excitement of Jamdiver about his new cam (named Donna) and the nice pics he could take with it. Talking with some good photographers here like Mike Veitch or Diver Dennis also contributed in lighting a little flame in my head that grew to become the start of a passion for something I never tought would interest me so much: photography. All this happened in less than a year so my diving trip to Cuba this year had another interest compared to last year, I wanted to improve the quality of my pictures and I was looking for good shots instead of shooting at anything.
Now, I learned a lot here before my trip. Some people may have been tired to answer all my questions (but they didn't show it if they were). I will now post some pictures from my Cuba trip 2006 and I know experts will find many errors and defaults but I am ready to hear them as it is the only way to improve. I still am satisfied to see the results this year (which will give you an idea of how crappy last year's were).
again thanks to all that gave me precious advices before my trip.
Now the viz was very ordinary due to terrible winds and I didn't adjust white balance for technical reasons. I tried some in semi-manual modes but most were taken in Underwater auto mode. So here are some of the pictures (out of the hundreds I took that are not showable here )
