I just finished going through the majority of my pictures from my wonderful trip to Lembeh this summer. I stayed at Critters at Lembeh Resort. What a wonderful resort and awesome guides. This is truly an awesome place for macro diving. Here are some of the pics from my trip:

I know next to nothing about photography. Why are the backgrounds black in your pictures?

They were probably taken at night.

The only one taken at night was the squid. You get the blackened background when you shoot into empty space behind the subject matter.

You get the black background when you have a subject with nothing behind it. You have some particles but you can clean that up in photoshop. For example the squid was moving through water, there was nothing behind it. It doesn't matter if shot during the day or night.
