Picking the right Wing for Doubles

Question: I am needing to know how you determine the correct size of wing for use of doubles. I am planning to purchase a OMS Wing but could not find any info on it... Can some one help?? ....

I just bought a new OMS wing and got the Larry Green series, it will do both singles with an STA and doubles as well.

I think what I am specically looking for is the Wing Size to weight ratio. In other words If I weight 250 lbs and with double S119's would this justify getting a OMS 45, 60 or 95?..... Is there some type of table that can confirm this or does anyone know...

Check out Tobin's posts on this thread. The calculations are no different for doubles, except you have a larger amount of air to account for, and the manifold and bands are a few pounds negative, too.

That's some good info out there. Glad you are researching before buying. Here's a snip from an Ebay add, showing what NOT to do:

OMG! it's gone. Some one must have used the buy-it-now.

Anyway, it was a "his and hers", everything duplicate and identical models. Included in this huge pile of gear was 2 stainless steel OMS plates, 2 OMS harnesses, 2 STA's, and 2 OMS, bungied, 95# wings.

I would be like but it's a sad truth. So I'm just :shakehead

Excellent post (tobins). The only thing to add is make sure to account for anything else you plan to hang off your harness. (stage/deco bottles etc)

Stage / deco bottles usually have very little impact on required wing lift.

AL Stage or Deco bottles weight very little, even when filled with air and completely rigged (You are using AL deco bottles right?)

When do you need max lift? Early in the dive when your bottles are full. If you suffer a total DS flood early in the dive you typically have the option of dropping the deco bottles, you don't need them, you have very little deco obligation early in the dive.

Late in the dive if you suffer a failure you are lighter by the gas consumed during the dive.

You should account for the negative buoyancy of anything you are unwilling or unable to ditch, that's a pretty short list for me if I'm suffering a life threatening problem.
