Err, hard call, been to a few great ones of both. The Nyabingi Dance Hall back home was beyond great for the time and place, so guess it was kind of a college venue.
Athens, Ohio is a great college town with an awesome pub crawl, dining, offbeat shops area.
Go to area like that, or seedy urban Buffalo or Detroit neighborhoods? (Think Bourdain, 'No Reservations'.)
