a: depends what mood I'm in. But I like the fact that reel fishing is adaptable to more lures so I'll always pack my reel rod over my fly (my fly's broken anyway).

@ babyduck a: get the one with the better instructor. But also I guess convenience would be good (Don't know any TDI here in the PI but I know 4 IANTD instructors. Is that convenience or influence?...)

back to the past, at least you'll have knowledge of the region and time period to help your survival.

I've always found it to be highend gear, maybe not the best, but up there with it. They sures hell market it like its gold though... so... the answer is all of the above.
