I had read somewhere recently that only Alaskan residents were allowed to catch king crab on scuba gear ... am I misinformed?

If its legal, I think I found something better than lobster diving!
 
Thats decent size but nothing huge. Why dive, just drop a pot down for a bit. If you want to dive for something go for the scallops!

NW, you are correct. He's standing at what is know locally as Auke Recreational Area and the rules for that area are residents can take one per day only if they have a harvest permit and fishing license. Nothing for nonresidents at all.

He either dove with a resident and is holding the single crab that they caught or it is an illegal crab. Maybe he can fill us in on the details.
