Awesome pictures, Christi! Thanks for sharing them with us.

Christi:
YACK....scary...I look REALLY tired there...it was pretty late wasn't it???
Yes, it was late. Tired & Beautiful... how 'bout that? :gorgeous:

Maybe it was because we were all crying since we were leaving the next day! :116:

Nah, no crying, it gets easier to leave everytime... because we seem to come back at shorter intervals each time.

On Feb8-Feb14!!

Too many people are not looking at the reef close up as these beautiful shots do!!!

They were concerned about all that white sand on areas adjacent to where these photos were taken.

I was particulary interested in watching the larger angels feeding and the white sand flly as they did so and ALSO the number of Angel JUVs.

Thanks 94GTStang. Not sure about Christi's set up. Regarding my set up, overall, I'm pleased with it and the initial results, however, if you are looking yourself, I would highly suggest that you look at what the experienced shooters are using as this was my first time to shoot underwater and I was looking for gear that was available locally in Dallas as I was leaving the next day.... That said, I'm not sure that I would have picked another set up.... Here is what I'm currently shooting with:

Camera: Canon S80 - I'm using Canon's new point & shoot. It has an 8 Megapixel CCD, large 2.5 inch wide viewing angle LCD and an easy to use menu. While I want a Canon 5D, I wanted a good point & shoot to learn with... My S80 is small, easy to travel with, long-lasting rechargeable battery and if I flood it, no big deal.. Good review at: http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/canons80/

Housing: Canon WP-DC1 - This is the standard Canon housing made for this camera. Good to 130 feet (40M), good design for a newbie like me, plus it was very reasonable. I only paid $170 for it locally in Dallas at Competitive Camera. Best of all, they had it in stock the day before my trip...

Strobe: Sea & Sea YS-90 - Picked it up locally in Dallas the day before I left to Cozumel from my friends Larry & Joe at www.ScubaToys.com.

I went in and Joe gave me the abridged version of how to get started in U/W photography in the 5 minutes that I had to spare.... Joe said to remember, "...F8, get close, if you think you are close enough, then get closer, and don't forget to shoot up 'cause the pics look better...." Joe drilled this into me for a couple of minutes and then brought in Larry to reinforce the message.... Turned out to be good advice for a beginner like me. Christi also gave me additional advice that was helpful when we were diving with her team.

On my next trip to Cozumel, I'd like to take a lesson with Armando & Holly Alentado of Island Photo & Video of Cozumel. They offer both lessons and rental and are highly recommended... In the meantime, I'll be dreaming about our next trip....

Nice pics - and i wish i had seen something like that when i was there. ( 2weeks ago) I suspect that now more than ever divers will have to be selective about what reefs the ops take them too.

Umm...not really...there is healthy reef like this at every site...if you focus on the damage, which in the grand scheme of things is relatively little, then that's what you will see. If you focus on the beauty that is still very much there...images like these are what you will see.

I really like mteicher's attitude...

Outstanding shots Christi!
Making me itch for our next visit.
Just ordered an Oly sp350, pt-030 housing, sea&sea ys-90 strobe.
Can't wait to start learning.
Goin' to Puerto Rico next month, hope to sneak in a trip to see you in Coz sometime before our scheduled Dec. visit.
Do I dare ask... how's the Park Royal looking?

Park Royal....uuuuuuuuhhhhhhhhh......I think by December you'll be safe booking there :)

You NEED to get down here before that though...You and Jane deserve to come see how we've recovered after weathering Wilma with us! You got the short end of the bargain last time and we are sooo ready for you to come back! :)

I'm shooting an Oly 5050, Ikelite TTL housing, Ikelite DS-125 sub-strobe by the way for someone that asked above.

Great pics...can't wait to get back to Coz

YEA!!! Jane PROMISED that when the sale of our rental home closes in March, we pay off some stuff, finish the block wall on the front of the house.. blah, blah, blah... she won't even flinch about my demands that we take some EXTRA dive trips.
After PR in March, tonight I read her your note and said "Coz in May."
She asked if that was in "hurricane season." I convincingly nodded that it doesn't start until June... ha ha!
We WILL see you before Dec (as long as Jane doesn't log on to see how far I was pulling her leg!!) Uh oh. She's coming. I better hit "send!"
