philippines or malaysia and singapore

Which has the better diving for OW certified (not AOW) divers? I'm referring to just the safe parts of the countries. I wouldn't want to go to Mindanao or anything similar to that.

Also, overall (when thinking about everything, not just diving alone) which would you rather go to Malaysia AND Singapore OR the Philippines? Why?

Was planning a trip to the Philippines in Feb/March but a friend is going to Malaysia and Singapore in Sept so might go with him instead. I only have 3 weeks of vacation.

You would not enjoy diving in SIngapore. Diving around east Malaysia (Borneo) is outstanding but I am betting that your friend is going to peninsular Malaysia if they are also going to Singapore. Diving there is very nice but, in general, not as good as many places in the Philipinnes. In summay and as a generalization: Singapore< peninsular Malaysia < Philipinnes < east Malaysia.

You're right zippsy, he's going to the peninsular Malaysia since he's got family he wants to visit. I think I'll not go with him. I've only got so much vacation time. Better to spend it going to the Philippines (and then some other time to east Malaysia).
