Hi, just a quick question to all the helpful people here - I'm looking for a place to go diving around July - Aug. Is this typhoon/monsoon season in the Philippines? Am I better off going elsewhere and looking here again at another time? Thanks.

Seems like it's always typhoon season there now-a-days. Don't know when the official one starts...I'm sure someone who does will be along soon

Yeah, In July the wheather gets ****ty. August is usually even worse. You can still dive but I wouldnt recommend PH in that period.

You may want to look at diving in the southern islands of Visayas or Mindanao. I know it's still a big area to choose from. But these areas especially Mindanao does not suffer the typhoon season, at least not as much.

In Luzon, especially on Anilao / Bauan area, its touch and go at the moment. It has been sunny the whole week so we went to Bauan, Batangas yesterday. Even with the 5 foot swells, its still great diving! :D

Gi :coffee:

Cheers Izel. You are right - last typhoon in Southern Mindanao was more than 30 years ago.

The weather is nice year-round (as is the diving:wink:).

Thanks, guys. I don't have any particular reason to force PI right now, so I'll try Bali now and come back when the seasons change. Thanks again.

How's the end of September in southern Visayas? We are planning a trip to Moalboal possibly diving nearby islands. Thanks for any input.

I did PG last year in July, weather was fine. Maybe every fourthh day we had a small afternoon shower, which was refreshing,.... I guess you never know these days. The showers seems to be very local as well...
