Anyone notice that the average depth of a dive differs between the Petrel and the Shearwater Desktop software? A buddy of mine pointed this out Sat, and I sent in a message to Shearwater. Their desktop software developer answered and asked for some log files to look into it.

Anyone else notice this? We noticed it while working out some RMV calcs. It can be off as much as 5 or 6 FFW.

Strange. I have a bunch that don't match.

The guy figured it out. My Petrel settings wait a few min before terminating the dive upon surfacing. These get read as zero depth. If you ignore the zero-depth readings, the software correlates to the Petrel. He's going to change the desktop software to ignore the zeros.

Good catch on the part of my buddy.
