Just to be fair -although I would highly recommend Elite; double check the prices from Sinai Blues - because nobody in Sharm offers a 3 day dive pack for 440 US Dollars - that's really excessive. For example, I currently work for Sinai Divers (although I leave Sharm in a few weeks) and we charge 160 Euros for a 6 dive package which is about 220US Dollars, and we are one of the biggest centres in Sharm. 440 USD would be excessive. It might be that the prices have been given in Egyptian Pounds (LE) - and I say this because you mention that Lunch on the boat is priced at $50 - but the average price is 50LE, which works out at $7.50

Or - does the price include the private guide as well?

I am not really very familiar with Sinai Blues but I think I know a few people who have freelanced there. If the price is actually in LE (without private guide), then I would say it's very cheap indeed for Sharm, but I would imagine that the dive centre has significantly fewer overheads than we do - they have a fast RIB (called the Valiant, if I remember correctly) - and I guess would boat-share or only charter a boat when they have the minimum number of 8 pax if they needed a bigger boat for the day. I don't know if the previous poster clare_sharm works for them or a different centre - Welcome! by the way! :-) - but may be able to give better information.

So I would just go and quickly double-check the prices. If it really is $440 dollars for a 3 dive day then sorry, there are much better value options. If it includes the guide, Elite is less expensive. Also don't forget there will be equipment rental charges extra unless you bring a full set.

Hope this helps a bit.

Cheers

Crowley,

I have been double check with them about the price. Its really in USD. As for food, also its in USD because the food comes from Four Seasons resort kitchen. The cost is not include private guide as their policy was 4 to 1. Actually its some sort of private guiding compare to others in Egypt. Do you think its not worth the price? As for boats, they claimed that all the boats they have are owned by four seasons resort and they do not cater outsider in peak season. But for my case, they are able to cater outsider because we will be diving in May which are low season.

www.sinaiblues.com : This is the DC that I have searched on my own.

Wow. :confused4:

That whole price-list looks veeery expensive! I'm sure they're probably a great dive outfit - and at those prices you would certainly hope so - but that is more than I would ever consider paying for diving in Sharm.

In my view, that looks like the sort of price list you get from a small hotel-attached dive centre which knows that thay have a 'captive market' and that enough people will book 'in house' without price-checking to offset the number of customers who go elsewhere for better value.

There are many other good dive centres that charge a lot less and still give a great service (and will pick you up from your hotel if you book in advance).

Re: Price list, charging 50 $ for lunch is extraordinary, they must have a maïtre d' onboard serving lobster in branded tableware.

I pre-booked a 5 day - 10 dive package with Aquarius Diving Club last July in Makadi Bay , received 1 day free and paid a total of 154 € , this was for boat diving dive guide included. On their homepage they advertise special deals for Sharm.

I've lived in Sharm for almost a year now working with the MFO. I and many of my friends have gotten all different kinds og certifications through Ocean College as well as Thistlegorm, Ras Mo, Dunraven, Tiran Dives, and local stuff. They are reasonably priced, and as a bonus you get free nitrox this summer if you get nitrox certed with them ;). They are advertise 10 to 1 ratios, but so far i haven't seen it come close to that many, between 3 and 6 per guide. But that's just my experience with them. I recommend them highly, they are a blast.

Ultimately if you have a group and you pay for a private guide any dive centre anywhere in Egypt (sharm, dahab, hurghada etc) will give you exactly the ratios you ask for.

If you don't go private then obviously you'll have to fit in with everyone else.

That $50 for lunch HAS to be a misprint surely.

Most boats are LE50 (so about $9) for lunch and soft drinks all day.

$50 is daylight robbery for typical boat food!

Edit:- having read all that price list its phenomenally expensive - quite possibly the most expensive in Egypt. All from a dive centre ive never heard of!

Actually - I investigated this and forgot to reply. The prices are accurate - the lunch price is, indeed, 50 US Dollars as apparently it comes from the kitchens of the hotel... I believe the OP has now booked - I hope my mates live up to your expectations! :D
