Perry Smith - G+S Watersports, Tobermory

I was going to post this in the Passings Forum but I thought more would see this news.

I learned earlier today that Perry Smith, the long-time owner of G+S Watersports passed away today, after a long illness. Perry and I were friends for something like 48 years. He accused me of ruining his life when I hired him to come to work for me when I ran a dive lodge in Tobermory.

Many years later, when Perry owned G+S I was a frequent, but terrible customer. Perry eventually got tired of being selling me free airfills, so he gave me a key and staff shirt and I helped myself.

Perry will be missed by many, but mostly by his lovely wife Kim, his kids and grandkids.

Divers Den acquired the shop a couple of years back so they run out of both locations. The old G&S location is mostly used for training now. DD is doing a great job!

I am sad to learn of Perry's passing. I dived with his operation for several years before it closed and he ran a top-notch operation. I am glad Diver's Den took over the operation and is running a great operation.
