I am considering a visit to Pulau's Perhentian and Redang in September. Can anyone help me with suggestions on good places to stay and dive operations that they would recommend. I am willing to spend the money for good accommodations, I like A/C, and a good dive operator.

I like Flora Bay in Perhentian and Kalong resort at Redang. Both offers basic accomodation (but comes with A/C).

There are other dive operators/ resorts at Redang but I find those too touristic. The DM at Kalong are great especially if you're doing underwater photography.

I went to redang thrice & have stayed with Redang Kalong. They offer basic accomdation comparing to the bigger resorts nearby but becos they are situated at the other end of the island, u would enjoy more privacy. Also, if u're doing some diving, do ask for AB Lee or Tim to guide ur dives...u will definitely enjoy diving with them. PS: can also pick up some photography tips from AB if u're a photographter..he is v.good.

How about the Laguna Resort? Anyone dive with them before? Other than this, any other recomendation?

Never dived with them before but my friends went with them once & the only thing they could say about Laguna's dive centre is....crap! Not sure if they've improved by now though....No doubt the resort is nicer but if you want the best diving in Redang, go with Redang Kalong. It's the only dive operator that I will dive with in Redang.

Thanks for the information.
Do you have any further info on this resort? How is the dive center? Are they under the same operator? Do they offer Nitrox?
And.. most important...How can I contact them?

Watercolors on the Perhentian Islands has a very good service.. combined with a relaxing atmosphere and very good food... i had some really enjoyable diving there.

The sites at Redang are very nice. I stayed at Kelong. The accommodation is pretty good; basic, but clean and comfortable. My only complaint would be the food is also basic. Laguna looks too touristy for me. Most importantly, I trust the dive shop.

I remember my last dives in Redang Kalong last year wasn't that great. The visbility was very low through out the 7 dives. The DM wasn't that patient with us as we move quite slow compare to the other divers. The dive time is rather short, only about 40 mins.
Food and accomodation is basic but fine for us.
The rest, not much comment...
