People forget (or just don't care) that this is a basic scuba discussion subcategory.
All the more reason to correct misinformation such as putting the dust cap on your reg will turn the transmitter back on.
 
Not really.

If I had less than 25 dives under my belt, those OW water lessons of putting on your cap right after taking it off the tank would still be fresh.

You as a "marine scientist and master instructor" might think of it as important today.... but a few thousand dives ago maybe you'd have a different mindset. You know, like do I need to take the transmitter completely off after every dive like the OP specifically asked...........
