Hey Y'all..
We've got small group of us (4) headed to dive the "O" on the morning of July 28th. Since we're diving the first half of the day, we want to do some night dives Saturday night. After speaking to MBT, (who we booked the O trip with) we were told they don't book night dives but they said if conditions were right, we could shore dive the night. Can anyone recommend any sites for night diving? We're staying at the Suburban in P'Cola, Saturday night if that helps any. If conditions don't allow, can you point us to where the beer is cold?:14:
Also, if anyone is interested, we're going to be stopping by Morrison on our back to GA on Sunday to get in a couple dives there. Can't think of a better way to rinse the gear. :D If you're in the area Saturday night and/or Sunday morning, it would be cool to meet some other SB'ers.

We stopped by morrison on the way back last Sun.. I was going to do the same thing but my son and wife had other plans. The doubles were empty and we were running behind so it was a stop and go thing. The water looked great and there was lots of people about. Have fun on your trip.

If you want to stay in the P-Cola area try the Pensacola Beach Pier rubble reef. here is some info from MBT's website on it. THe info is correct except for the depths. The beach reclimation project dredged tons of sand back onto the beachs in the area and changed the depths to around 17-18 fsw which makes for a super long enjoyable dive. Water temps have been in the high 70's at depths around 80 fsw, with surface water temps in the lower 80's. So the water temps right now are very enjoyable. We have been experiencing some jelly fish activity latey and you might want to consider a full suit just in case. After the info I will post the websites of the local Pensacola boat captains and one Orange Beach captain that you can check with about inshore/offshore night dives. I hope you have a great time :D .

The site of the old Pensacola Beach Fishing Pier is a very popular site for shore divers and snorkelers. Consisting of large piles of concrete rubble and the remains of pilings, the site attracts a wide variety of marine life, including tropicals and flounder. Nurse sharks, sea turtles, and large rays are also frequently seen here. The site is located directly in front of the public restroom building approximately 120 yards to the East of the new fishing pier. Depths range 12-24’.
There is also the Navarre Beach pier. In Orange Beach, Alabama (very short drive) you have Alabama Point jetties and the Whiskey Wreck: WHISKEY WRECK

The remains of this 19th century ship lie just off the beach in nearby Gulf Shores Alabama. One of the areas more popular shore dives, the wreck is home to a wide range of marine life, and is a favorite location for shell collectors. Depths 15-20'. The wreck can be found approximately 100 yards off the beach, behind "Bahama Bob's" (across from the Ramada Inn in Gulf Shores). Maps are available at MBT Divers.

Let me know what kind of watering hole you are looking for I i'll try to guide you there. Seville Quarter night club is probobly your best bet. Here is there website http://www.rosies.com/

Great info folks.. Thanks a bunch.. Too be honest about the "watering hole", none of us are "Spring Chickens" anymore. As a matter of fact, now that I think about it, I'm the youngest in the group at 42. We'd probably do just as well having a beer with our food at supper Saturday evening. :D
Daisy D, are any boats running to other areas other than the O that night that you know of? Since we're diving the O that morning, we're looking for a bit of a cheaper dive for the night.
wjefferis, Thanks for all that info.. I'll check out all the sites you posted.. Great info!!!
And seriously, if anyone wants to meet up for the night dive or Morrison on Sunday, PM me and I'll give you my email so you'll know the itinerary. Then another way to contact us once we get in the area. SaltH20 and MaconBubbles are two of the others going with me. I don't know the 4th's ID here on SB..
Thanks again for all the great info..
