The H2O Below has run three trips this week so far. Here ya go...

Tuesday was the Oriskany - The viz continues to be over 100 feet. The seas were great warm and pretty flat. So the good news is that the viz has improved, the better news is - if you have waiting the whole summer for it to clear then the wait was worth it. The water is still a warm 80 degrees and the slight air temp drop is refreshing. You don't dry within seconds and then sweat on the surface interval.

Wednesday - I played hookie and went with a great group of divers to the YDTs. We did the deeper one first (is that 14 or 15?) Anyway, it was really cool to see that the wreck in in tact after the hurricane. No noticible change. I did however note that there was about a thousand sand dollars absolutely everywhere! We found some really cool shells also. The group were all great divers so we had time to really look. We found a larger Cowrie that was dark brown about eight inches long and six inches around. Beautiful!

Thursday was another trip to the Oriskany. I had to work but the report was that the viz was still over 100 ft, the water was still 80 degrees and the seas were two foot. Great day again! Note: the Octopus could not be found today again. The DM looked everywhere for her hiding place but she wasn't available. I think that she knows when I'm not there and hides. :eyebrow: Remember I'm the one with the blue crab! She loves me.

We have trips scheduled for Saturday and Sunday to the Oriskany so if your interested - let's go find an missing Octopus!!!

I forgot to tell ya the really cool part of the YDT dives. We saw two bull sharks swimming around the wreck on the way down. They hung around the whole time just off the wreck. On the way up one followed us up to the safety stop and stayed just 15 feet below everyone. It was totally cool. Why do I never have a camera when these things happen?

Sounds Great! I was hearing of 40+ viz nearer shore (like at the Navy Tug and Pete's Tide)

We were getting a hazy 30 on the Ivan's piles

Seems to be a little better off shore. This is a great time of year to dive this area regardless of where you go!

Thnx for the reports
