Peacock Springs Update

I talked with Ron over at Dive Outpost today. The Suwanee is dropping about 4 inches per day right now. If the rains hold off, it may be possible to get back into Peacock before the end of April, maybe sooner. Little River is no longer vortexing, so hopefully now the water is getting pushed out.

Since there are a few of us going to Ginnie for the Megadive, would anyone be interested in also heading over to Luraville if things improve to that point by then? I would be willing to extend my stay a couple of days to get some dives in over that way.

We'll keep watching things over at Peacock.

Just realize when you get back in Peacock it will be very poor viz for quite awhile since the aquifer was very low. Little River will be bad probably for quite awhile too,because the last time we had the same set of circumstances with the drought,it took close to a year to look "good".

"Freaky" is an accurate description,low viz gives the cave a whole new appearance. I had to do a biota inventory there post-flooding for a baseline count. There was high current with 5-10' viz. If I didn't know the cave so well I would have been completely turned around.

I am sure Ron is kinda bored and tired of doing chores for Cathy. He needs to start filling tanks again. James' departure hasn't completely sunk in yet.

Maybe hoping for a mid-April Peacock swim is asking a bit much then. Jean, please keep us posted on Peacock's progress. Thanks!

I see the Suwannee at Dowling Park on the guage has dropped over 2 feet since last Thursday (03/20)

And I see someone posted on CDF that LR "looks" like it is no longer syphoning (no whirlpool)

P.S. Same thing at the Luraville guage , dropped 2 feet since last Thursday (03/20)
I checked all of the upstream guages and it is dropping faster upstream of Dowling Park , Luraville so if we don't get any more heavy rain events up in the Okee , well , time will tell

Looks like the Sante Fe is dropping up at Three-Rivers estates too (on the guage) and that will drop the river level at Ginnie too
