TSandM --- We dove exclusively off of the listed diving excursions, except for a 2-tank dive on one day that was offered on Bora Bora thru Top Dive to the more "experienced" divers (probably anybody with more than 20 dives. ☺) Several of the days we had dive operators contracted by the boat, but most days were directly off of the marina platform at the back of the boat in Zodiacs guided by the PG divemasters, Dominique, Fredrik and Pierre. Dominique is a native of the island of Tahiti, is married to the PG's hotel director, and has been on the PG since it first sailed 10 years ago. You can, of course, line up outside operators on any of the islands to maximize the number of dives. We dragged our own gear and left it at the marina. We rolled out of bed, had a small breakfast delivered by room service, and strolled down to the marina for the dive. Most of the dive sites were only 5 minutes or so away from the boat, so on the one tank dive days we were back by 10:00 getting ready for other activities. The Tiputa Pass dive on Rangiroa is not to be missed if the atoll is on your itinerary. It is a rocket dive with lots going on, although there were no Hammerheads when we dove it.

In May of 2006, we sailed on a different boat, the Tahitian Princess for a 10 night cruise. All of our diving was off of the boat with on-island operators. Here is a list of the operators we used on that cruise. All were good and were recommended by ScubaBoard posters before we went on the cruise.

Tahiti: Acquatica Dive Center
Rarotonga (Cook Islands): Pacific Divers
Raiatea: Hemisphere Sub
Bora Bora: Bora Dive Center and Top Dive
Moorea: Top Dive (largest operator in FP, has ops on numerous islands)

Can't help myself. Here's me in the split fins surrounded by a few of the friendly Black Tips.

Well, my two hopes for this trip are hammerheads and mantas. But I'll be happy with clear, blue water, although you guys are making me begin to wonder about taking my drysuit . . . :)

Mantas we had on three of the dives, although not anywhere near the 26 we had one night this past May in Hawaii on the Manta Ray Night Dive just off of Kailua-Kona. :)
