I saw on the state department's website that They laxed the regulation for people traveling to Aruba. Does anyone know if it applies for Curacao also? They are both Netherland territories.

I applied for my passport the first week of April. I just tried to check the status online and it said it was not in the database, so I am kind of starting to worry. Supposed to leave 9-30. Still ten weeks away, but I don't want to wait until the last minute.

You'll be ok. The temporary passport requirement exemption applies to travel from the US to Canada, Bermuda, Mexico, and countries in the Carribean Region. The condition you need to meet is to have applied for, but not yet received, your passport.

You will need a government issued ID and a copy of your passport application to travel.

Just got back from Curacao and although the temperatures and viz were below normal, it was still an outstanding week of diving.

I recently checked on this for a person traveling with me to Bonaire. Per the immigration dept on Bonaire, they will accept a certified birth certificate, drivers license and a reciept showing (must have all 3) you have applied for a PP. I

Has your check for the passport been cashed? I'd look into your status more closely, if I were you. From what I understand, names should be entered into the "applied" database fairly quickly. It's actually completing the process that is taking so long. If there is no record of your application after 2.5 months, you probably should be worried.

My check cleared on 5/30. I filled out the form on the website for a status check. I'm going to see if they actually respond to me in the next few days and then look more into it.

I called the National Passport hotline and my application had a wrong number in my social security number. So that is why I could not find the status online, but it is being processed and should be here in time.
