Was just incredible the feeling I had when we did our last did. We took our OW dives at Dutch Springs yesterday and today and it was a great experience to say the least. We had 4 Instructors with the class split into 2 groups each day and today our main Instructor Kathy told my buddy and myself to after the skills were done we would be going with Steve (another Instructor). I was like hhmmmm, looked at my buddy and he had the same look on his face, I knew something was up.

So after the skills were done we split up and Steve took my buddy and myself and his buddy out. About 30' down and away from the rest we stop and he writes on the slate "How deep are you allowed to go?" I signal 60 and he wipes it and writes down "Are you ready?"...I know my mouth got into a huge *** grin cuz I was like hell yeah!!

So off we went swimming along a sheer drop off wall and finally I settled at around 62', my buddy was around 64' and mad was the 63 degree water freezin! ( I think that was the 2nd thermocline we hit) I didnt realize it would feel that cold but it felt like 30. Looking up was amazing, it seemed sooo deep. And it was exciting as hell!!!

We stayed there only about 1 1/2 minutes and ascended to around 30' to finish off and swimm around, but that was the best dive of the weekend for us 3. Incredible, and this was in a spring feed old quarry that has alot of silt. Plain, not alot of fish...but just amazing to say the least!!

Now we're signing up for AOW and cant wait to get back there to dive some more and keep practicing this unbeleivable sport I have just gotten into!! Cant wait till I get some dives under my belt and book a trip to the caribbean.

Thaks all to help advise me on equipment pruchases because I felt I was steered in the right direction and just the excitment totally justifies the cost I've put into this sport even as as a newbie! :)

Congrats on your certification, rhyz!

You will find your purchases really have yet to begin.

LOL tell me about, next is a hoseless comp then later on a dry-suit.

I quess he was asking how deep we were certified for without an Instructor present.

Congorats!

Would have been nice for our instructors to take us to 60', but then again I was wearing a 3mm shorty, so it may be a good thing they didn't =P

Yup...he's as hopelessly addicted to diving as we are.

Congrats on passing your OW's, rhyz...above all, have fun diving!

Yup I knew I was hooked when I first went under in the pool....then bought my Balance, Legend LX ACD, Princeton Tek Light Pack, Knife and Aqua-Lung 3mil full. Next looking at a hoseless comp..then later a drysuit..figured why get a 7mil if the drysuit is more versitile.

I want to get some more dives in on August and work on my AOW then hit a week of diving somewhere in the caribbean outside the hurricane routes hopefully. Then in Oct. we're going to PR for 3 days, hit a cruise to St Thomas, Barbados, Dominica, and Aruba then back to PR for another 2 days and then home. Hopefully can hit some diving on the cruise but have to check our itinerary first.

Can't wait!!

Congrads,

You have to try the ocean next!

Enjoy and be safe
