It is not a big thing, but it drives me NUTS. Paying for parking in a Mall or airport parking lot.

I cant help thinking "errrr.....lemme get this right, you want me to pay to NOT use my car...."

the worst ones are the airports. My local airport is cunningly designed so that there is no holding or waiting are in sight of the arrivals hall. You have to drive 500 meters away, park, take your ticket, walk in the hot sun to pick up someone that pays $90 usd departure tax.

The worst thing is that the dollar or so you have to pay for the 15 minutes parking is spent directly on the extra security guards that are put in front of the arrivals hall to wave you on all day, and the fancy motion detector machines that give you a ticket. Airport car storage I understand and can live with, but nowhere to wait for an arrival. Gimme a break.

Oh yeah, if anyone on the board EVER wants a pick up. Phone me when you are down, through customs and waiting on the sidewalk. NOT BEFORE........then I might consider it.....

.That is my rant.

Mark ... you'd LOVE the new parking lot at one of our local dive sites.

They ripped out the old lot, because they said it wasn't big enough. They had signs up all winter long telling us about the great new improved parking lot that would be coming our way in January.

They finally opened it up at the end of April. What they neglected to mention on all those signs was that they were converting it into a pay lot (used to be free). Nice, fancy machines that'll take credit cards and everything. The real kicker is that it'll take your credit card either to pay for the parking, or to pay the ticket if you neglect to pay for the parking.

Now THAT'S high-tech ...

If you know they are waiting on the curb, and see them, literally just to stop, drop bags and let the person in - do they still wave you on?? They let you stop here if you directly pick someone up within a few seconds of stopping the car. They also give you up to 30 mins free on the airport - i can bet that Orlando airport is pretty busy most of the year around.

However if they wont even let you stop to pick someone up, then just creep along at less than walking pace, pop the trunk and let the person throw their bag in on the move, rush around and jump in the passenger seat - no need to actually stop ;)

I just borrow my mother in laws car and abandon it. ;)

Midway in Chicago has 1 hour of free parking. That's nice.

If I'm really running late f/ work & don't have time to park in the employee lot, I park in short term parking. All I can say is OUCH! I think I've just been gouged.

Along the same lines I just refinance my house I had to go three times to the office because they had the paper work wrong of course a mistake on their favor well guess who got stuck for the parking meter those three times. Looking back I should of asked for something but I was fuming over the paper work and wasting my day.

I hear ya, but I spent the first 40 years of my life in NYC. No sympathy from me. :)
